Bishnupur, July 14 2025:
As part of his visit to the relief camp opened at Moirang Sandongpham, MP Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam inspected the Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, which has remained abandoned for nearly a year due to fears of collapse after a storm caused damages to the building.
Speaking to reporters during the inspection, Dr Bimol noted that the school, established in 1948, is one of the most important educational institutions in Bishnupur district.
Despite its historical and academic significance, he said the school has deteriorated considerably due to continued neglect by the authorities concerned.

He further revealed that although the contract teachers at the school have been regularised, they have not received their salaries for the past 10 months.
Yet, the teachers continue to impart education with dedication and a sense of sacrifice, striving to shape the future of the students.
Dr Bimol Akoijam stated that he conducted the inspection in his capacity as a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, with the aim of taking necessary steps for the restoration of the school, which he described as unfit for providing education, and to address the plight of teachers who have not received their salaries for the past 10 months.
The MP pointed out the importance of laying a strong foundation for students up to Class XII, describing these formative years as critical for their future.
Citing Japan as an example, he said that its citizens are guided by a sense of collective responsibility, prioritising the welfare of society over personal gain.
"Only when we sincerely carry out our duties can we overcome our challenges and adversaries," he remarked.
The inspection was also attended by Bishnupur ADC Toijam Opendro, ZEO Atom Gunamani Devi and other officials.
