Kakching, August 11 2025: Road repair work through public contributions was taken up on Sunday along the stretch from Pallel Mantak to Kakching Bazar Khongnang Mari Phangba via Kakching Wairi Kamala Pareng, which has been in a deplorable condition due to prolonged government negligence.

Among others, various educational institutions are situated on the said road stretch and is vital route of communication for students and general populace of Kakching Wairi and Mantak villages.

The road repair work is being initiated by Nahashinggi Khongthang (NK), Kakching and United Clubs' Organisation (UCO), Kakching Wairi with funds collected from public.

Speaking to media persons, NK president Mayanglambam Rabi informed that the repair work was initiated to ease inconveniences faced by the public.

Conceding that the repair work is only temporary solution, he appealed to authority concerned to black top the road at the earliest.

Chipping in, UCO, Kakching Wairi president Moirangthem Brojen claimed that due to government's apathy the said road is dotted with potholes, which has resulted in students and public encountering much inconveniences.

He pointed out as the PWD has failed to maintain the road, the repair work has been taken up with monetary contributions from educational institutions and the people.

Brojen also announced that repair work will also be carried out on the road stretch from Padma Ratna English School to Keirak Sekmai Barrage in the coming days.

He further urged authority concerned to start repairing roads in timely manner to ensure that the public do not face such issues in future.
