Thoubal, May 05 2025:
Under the sponsorship of Bar Council of Manipur (BCM), Thoubal District Bar Association (TDBA) organised a legal education programme on Monday at the Thoubal District Court Complex with BCM executive member Md Khalid, TDBA president Kh Arunkumar, BCM Legal Aid and Legal Education Committee chairman Koijam Modhusudon Singh and Privilege Committee chairman Ashangbam Jagjit Singh as the presidium members.
Delivering the keynote address, Koijam Modhusudon stated that the Bar Council of Manipur had long intended to conduct legal education sessions on the first and last Saturdays every month.
However, these efforts have been hindered by financial constraints.
Despite repeated appeals, the necessary funding from the government has yet to be received.
Nonetheless, given the importance of the initiative, the programme has been launched with a focus on educating lawyers about "Professional Ethics" and the "Rule of Law", he explained, while assuring that additional legal topics would be introduced in subsequent sessions.
During the function, Md Khalid and Ashangbam Jagjit Singh spoke on the topics "Professional Ethics" and "Rules of Law" respectively.
