Drug smugglers held; contraband, cash seized

Security forces arrested four drug smugglers and seized large quantities of contraband in separate operations across the state on April 28 and 29, according to police control room statement.
On April 29, police arrested two drug smugglers in Imphal West district, from near Patsoi police station.
The accused were identified as Kayenbam Kenedi Singh (36), and Keisam Sarat Singh (55) .
Police recovered 26 packets wrapped in black polythene, suspected to be ganja, weighing around 274.8 kilograms, and seized a Tata truck, mobile handset, money bag containing Rs 3,830, and an Aadhaar card from the arrested individuals.
The following day, security forces intercepted a Bolero and a Hyundai Creta suspected of transporting contraband from Moreh to Churachandpur at TOB Yangoubung under Moreh PS, Tengnoupal district.
After a thorough search, security forces recovered Rs 2.6 lakh in cash and approximately 3 lakh WY tablets, weighing about 35.41 kilograms, concealed in modified cavities in the vehicles.
Two individuals, namely Paojathang Kipgen (30), and Kamminlun Kipgen (24), both of Govajang village in Tengnoupal district, were apprehended.
Two mobile phones, a PAN card, two Aadhaar cards, and documents related to the vehicles, including a Xerox copy of the registration certification and sale/purchase deed were seized from them.
