MTU hosts FDP on GIS and remote sensing

A two-week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) cum workshop on 'GIS & remote sensing' organised by Manipur Technical University (MTU) commenced from Monday at its Imphal campus.
The FDP organised by MTU Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Civil Engineering, in association with Cotton University, Guwahati, and sponsorship of North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, is aimed at acquainting teaching faculty members, researchers, engineers, and professionals on basic knowledge and practical skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and spatial data analysis-technologies that are important in infrastructure development, environmental management, urban planning, disaster risk reduction, and smart governance, informed a release issued by MTU Faculty Development Programme co-convenor Kosygin Leishangthem.
Over 35 individuals including faculties and students from different universities, colleges and institutes are attending the programme, said the release adding that the fortnight long discourse will feature technical lectures by resource persons from NECTAR, technical training, case-studies and project learning.
The programme aligns with MTU's wider vision for fostering innovation, capacity building, and resilience in consonance with the National Education Policy 2020 and India's Digital India and smart cities missions, according to the release.
