Imphal, August 11 2025:
All Manipur Kidney Transplant Patients' Welfare Association (AMKTPWA) has urged the government for releasing the pending reimbursement claims to private hospitals empanelled under the PM-JAY scheme so as to save the lives of kidney patients undergoing treatment under the scheme.
Reflecting on the decision and subsequent declaration by the Association of Healthcare Providers-India, Manipur Chapter to suspend free treatment to patients covered by the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arog-ya Yojana (PMJAY) from August 16 unless the state government settles long-pending reimbursement claims, AMKTPWA media advisor Phanjoubam Lanajit expressed serious concern that kidney patients undergoing dialysis under PMJAY would face severe hardships if the scheme is halted.
He noted that around 450 patients are currently receiving treatment at Shija Hospital, 300 at Babina Hospital, 30 at Trevi Hospital, and 10-15 at ILDS Hospital, and many others at different private healthcare facilities.
Stating that majority of the PMJAY beneficiaries are from the economically disadvantaged section of the population, with some even residing in relief camps, he said that suspending PMJAY benefits in private hospitals would push many kidney patients to the brink of life and death.
Lanajit appealed to authorities concerned to immediately release the pending reimbursement furjds to private hospitals under the PMJAY scheme and save the lives of patients.
