Governor apprised on condition of Irum river, NH 137(A)

Imphal, May 04 2025: A five-member delegation of Working Committee on Rejuvenation of Irum Turel, Kakching, called on Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, on April 30 and appealed for taking steps for rejuvenating Irum river and repairing of the Kakching Lamkhai to Wabagai stretch of NH 137(A) .

As per a release by Committee president Kshetrimayum Chhatradhari, the delegation apprised the Governor on the degrading condition of Irum river, a historically and environmentally important river, and deplorable condition of NH 137(A) along with urging Ajya Bhalla to visit the district to introspect, first-hand, the needs of the district.

The Governor assured to act upon the request to restore Irum river and ask authority concerned to look into the repair of NH 137(A), according to the Committee.
