Three UGs held, arms recovered, WWII bomb defused

Imphal, June 29 2025:
Security forces apprehended three cadres of different underground (UG) organisations and recovered several arms and explosives in a series of operations in the last two days, according to a statement from the Police Control Room.
In Bishnupur district, a cadre of KCP (Taibanganba), identified as Leitongbam Sanamacha Singh (20) alias Kenamcha alias Keipha alias Nungshithoiba was arrested from his Oinam Ushak Khangdabi residence under Nambol police station on Saturday.
In another operation, police arrested a cadre of the proscribed RPF/PLA, identified as Chingakham Premdas Singh alias Nongdamba (40 from Keishamthong Maning Longjam Leikai house under Imphal police station in Imphal West.
Police seized a mobile phone along with an Airtel SIM card from his possession.
Meanwhile, another PLA cadre was arrested near the India-Myanmar border.
The individual, identified as Moirangthem Sanathoi Singh (23) of Heirok Part-I, Thoubal district, was apprehended near Border Pillar No 87 in Tengnoupal district.
In a separate operation, security forces acting on information provided by local residents of Tengnoupal area neutralised an old unexploded bomb believed to be of World War II vintage.
A bomb disposal team safely defused the explosive without any incident.
Earlier on June 27, a cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the foothills of Ngariyan Hill near TB Hospital under Irilbung police station in Imphal East.
The recovered items included one .303 rifle with magazine, three 12 bore double barrel guns, 73 live cartridges of 12 bore ammunition, two lathode shells, one No 36 hand grenade with arming ring, three rounds of .303 ammunition, two bulletproof plates, a helmet and one bulletproof jacket.
