Complaint filed for derogatory remarks on MP Sanajaoba

Imphal, August 20 2025: A complaint has been filed at Porompat police station against one Sanaton Meitei of Kabo Leikai, Imphal for posting derogatory remarks on social media against Manipur Rajya Sabha Sanajaoba Leishemba.

The complaint filed by MP's PA/PS Maisnam Shivadutta denounced that the said social media post uploaded on August 18 casts aspersion on bloodline of Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba, amounting to greatest offence against a titular king.

While maintaining that branding Arambai Tenggol as private army of Maharaja Sanajaoba is unfounded, the complaint clarified that the MP's association with Arambai Tenggol is limited to encouraging an indigenous cultural group.

"A political choice is prerogative of a person and decided in the best interest of the state.

He is an MP who raised multiple issues on the floor of the parliament in the interest of the state and is trying to settle the issue of internally displaced person," Shivadutta informed.

Calling the allegations unfounded, poor in taste and not based on facts, the complainant asserted that a man in question should not be allowed to malign the character of a public figure but taught a lesson by filing FIR against his misdeeds.

It is high time that 'Right to expression' does not mean to say whatever one pleases, Shivadutta said, expressing hope that due course of law shall be initiated to book the culprit.
