Cops apologise to drivers

Imphal, June 19 2025: LPG and petroleum oil tanker drivers have called off their steering-off protest launched over the physical assault of LPG tanker driver Khumukcham Herojit at Khabam Lamkhai, following an apology from the police personnel involved in the incident on Thursday.

In this regard, All Manipur Petroleum Products Drivers' Association president Laish ram Somen said that the police personnel involved in the incident surrendered to Heingang police and later, visited the protesting drivers to offer an apology.

The personnel also extended monetary assistance to the injured driver.

Accordingly, the drivers decided to call off the protest and resume service from Friday, Somen said.
