Yai Foundation launched

Yai Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation was formally launched by Rajkumar Bhubonsana Singh, recipient of Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2014, on Thursday.
The ceremony held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal was attended by Y ai Foundation founder Aribam Abem, secretary Akoijam Kebisana, treasurer Oinam Julie and member Joyshree Usham among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Aribam Abem said that under the motto of "Weaving Stories, Shaping Minds", Yai Foundation will be working to provide age-appropriate children's literature with diverse quality for children up to Grade 5.She asserted that the organisation aims to inculcate the habit of reading among children in the country, especially Manipur.
She mentioned that the organisation will also be focusing on spreading awareness about the importance of children's literature among teachers, parents, communities and Government officials.
Highlighting the vision of the organisation, she said, "We envision nurturing a vibrant generation of young readers in Manipur by making children's literature in Manipuri and other local languages not only accessible but also a source of joy, inspiration and discovery".
Furthermore, Aribam Abem stated that the organisation's mission aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, which places a strong emphasis on foundational literacy and numeracy as a national priority.
