Imphal, July 05 2025:
Everyone must have basic knowledge of fire safety and response, and the responsibility to handle fire accidents should not rest solely with fire service personnel, stated Manipur Fire Services director L Nabachandra on Saturday.
He made the remarks during a one-day basic fire-fighting training programme held for personnel of City Police Station, Imphal.
The programme was jointly organised by Manipur Fire Services and City Police Station.

Nabachandra emphasised that dealing with fire incidents or any form of disaster requires collective efforts, stating that emergency situations are part of life and can happen at any time.
"Firefighters alone cannot manage these incidents effectively.
The cooperation of police and local residents is crucial," he said.
The event was also attended by City PS officer-in-charge Nameirakpam Gokul and Manipur Fire Services station officer Kh Surachandra.
A mock drill was conducted following the training session.
