MSPDCL organises awareness prog on ECSBC, ECBC & ENS

Imphal, June 30 2025: A one-day awareness programme on Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC), Eco-Niwas Samhita (ENS), and Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code (ECSBC) was organised by the Manipur State Power Distribution Corporation Limited (SPDCL), which is the state designated agency (SDA) on Monday at the City Convention Centre, here.

The programme conducted for technical officials of urban local bodies (ULBs) and MAHUD department to enhance their understanding and preparedness for implementing energy-efficient and sustainable building practices in Manipur, was held with MSPDCL managing director M Rabi Singh as chief guest, and presided over by MAHUD director Ngangom Uttam Singh with the sessions led by Ragini Goswami, a master trainer in energy conservation and sustainable building design.

Delivering the key-note address MSPDCL EC-II general manager Md Riyajuddin Khan emphasised the pivotal role of the SDA in the implementation and enforcement of ECBC at the state level along with stating that the agency is actively involved in organising awareness campaigns, conducting intensive training programmes, and working towards the official notification of ECBC in the state gazette, which will mark the beginning of its enforcement.

In their addresses, Ngangom Uttam stressed that building codes must reflect local climatic conditions and regional demographics to ensure effective and sustainable design solutions as M Rabi underlined the importance for all stakeholders to be well-versed with these codes, saying compliance will be mandatory following their notification in the state gazette.

Through technical presentations and interactive discussions, the programme served as a crucial step in reinforcing the state's commitment to sustainable development, energy efficiency, and environmentally responsible urban growth.
