Imphal, May 27 2025:
The Manipur Naga Youth Organisation-Headquarters (MNYO-HQ) on Tuesday strongly condemned what it described as false and malicious allegations made against prominent social activist and Indigenous Peoples' Forum Manipur (IPFM) president Ashang Kasar.
The organisation alleged that Churachandpur based Sangaikot Sub-Division Defence Committee joint secretary Jamchinlien Lhungdim, filed the FIR on May 22 based on fabricated claims stemming from a fake X account impersonating Ashang Kasar.
The imposter account posted inciting and provocative comments that could fuel communal tension.
Describing Lhungdim as an "armed militant gang member" who emerged from the ongoing conflict since 2023, MNYO-HQ criticised Churachandpur police for not arresting him immediately when he appeared at the police station to lodge the complaint.
The organisation questioned why, despite his background, he was given free passage.
MNYO-HQ emphasised that Ashang Kasar is a well-respected figure known for promoting peace and social harmony across communities in Manipur.
The organisation reaffirmed his integrity and stated that all accusations against him were unfounded and based on impersonation with the intent to damage his reputation and widen inter-ethnic distrust.
Calling the FIR a deliberate attempt to provoke communal misunderstanding, MNYO-HQ demanded the withdrawal of the complaint and a public apology from Jamchinlien Lhungdim and his organisation.
It also called on police to take action against the "culprit and organisation involved" to prevent similar incidents in the future and appealed to the public to remain vigilant against such divisive tactics.
