Chingkhu residents decry delay in construction of school building

Imphal, July 20 2025: The construction of new Haraorou Cosmopolitan Primary School in Chingkhu upder Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency remains incomplete even though the work was started almost four years ago.

Speaking to media persons today, the residents of Chingkhu area said that the construction of the new school building began in 2021 with funds from the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Scheme, Department of Education (S), Government of Manipur.

Stating that a person (sub-contractor) from Waiton was engaged for the construction of the school building, they alleged that poor construction work has led to several issues, including deterioration of ceiling plywood's structural integrity, leakage in the roof of toilets, etc.

They also asserted that the delayed construction of the school building has deprived the students of a proper learning environment and forced them to attend classes at the school's kitchen.

The residents urged the authorities concerned to take immediate actions to ensure timely completion of construction work and provide students with the infrastructure they need.

The residents further urged the authorities concerned to take appropriate action against the contractors/ subcontractors tasked with the construction of the school building.
