Youth advised to avoid drugs, embrace state's roots

Imphal, July 19 2025:
Continuing drug-use prevention and academic awareness campaigns entitled 'Eikhoi Mayai Kaba Drug Thadoklashi' and 'Khunai Mashak Khangnaba Lairik Ningthina Tamsi', the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) and Pangal Students' Organisation (PSO) jointly conducted an awareness programme at Prime Rose English school, Khabeisoi on Saturday.
The programme was attended by assistant professor Dr Naorem Sanatomba of Manipuri department, Manipur University, MSF president Hijam Roshan, PSO president Farid Bogimayum, Prime Rose school principal Md Rafi and school headmaster Hi-rom Laxman as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, Dr Naorem Sanatomba said emerging youth and students need to be healthy to ensure a bright future of society and work with clear understanding of the society, history and identity of the land.
He said that all the indigenous communities inhabiting in Manipur since time immemorial need to stand united and fight collectively for the motherland.
MSF president Hijam Roshan noted that all the indigenous communities of Manipur need to stand together for the motherland and urged youth and young students to have clear understanding of history of Manipur.
He also stressed the need for students to study effectively to make the society strong and free from drugs.
In his speech, PSO president Farid Bogimayum recalled that Manipuri society had no sign of drug abuse until some decades back.
"But drug use has now become a habit even among youth and young students.
If this trend continues, then Manipuri society would extinct in near future," he cautioned and called for uprooting drugs completely from the society.
