Imphal, June 16 2025:
Even though official report of the department concerned claimed that 97 percent of the 240 families of Lambung village in Chandel district now have access to tap water connection under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), the Anal Lenruwl Tangpi, Maha area contradicted the report, stating that not even a single family of the village has tap water connection till date.
According to Anal Lenruwl Tangpi, Maha area president Singul Larson, JJM was rolled Out to provide tap water to every household and the scheme for Chandel district was launched amid much fanfare during the tenure of N Biren Singh as the chief minister.
Following a report that implementation of JJM in Lambung village had been completed with tap water connection in every household, an RTI application was filed at PHED, Chandel with the prayer for sharing information on number of households covered under the scheme.
Accordingly, JJM dashboard was shown with the report of completion of tap water connection to 97 percent of the Lambung village, Larson said and challenged the data.
While claiming that not a single household of Lambung village has functional tap water connection till date, Larson alleged that the dashboard entries are not only false but also fabricated.
He said that five members of a single family were listed as five different families primarily to inflate the completion percentage.
In reality, not even a single household in Lambung village has received tap water connection, he reiterated and demanded urgent intervention from the higher authorities to rectify the report.
