Imphal, July 03 2025:
Two farmer producer companies (FPCs) from the state participated at the Organic Mela 2025 held on Thursday at World Trade Centre, New Delhi.
Organised by the National Cooperative Organic Limited (NCOL), the event brought together 32 organic FPCs from across the country to promote sustainable and indigenous agricultural practices.
The two FPCs - Chingarel Organic Producer Company Limited from Imphal East, and Kakching Organic Producer Company Limited from Kakching - represented the state under the Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA).
Yumnam Bimolchandra represented the Chingarel firm, and Naorem Achquba the Kakching company.
Chingarel Organic showcased its premium rice products including the Geographical Indication (GI) tagged Chak-hao, popularly known as aromatic black rice and regarded as a super food for its nutritional value.
The company also displayed RC Maniphou-13, a high-yielding paddy variety developed by ICAR Manipur Centre, highlighting the growing innovation in the state's organic farming sector.
Kakching Organic FPC focused on indigenous spice products such as turmeric and ginger, along with the GI tagged Hathei chili variety from Sirarakhong, Ukhrul district, known for its distinct aroma and colour.
Their participation was aimed to highlight the biodiversity of Manipur's hill and valley produce and its commercial potential in organic markets.
