Johnstone Alumni adopts reserved forest

Johnstone Higher Secondary School Alumni, 12th batch, 1996 has adopted Kairembikhok Reserved Forest in Thoubal district.
The adoption, taken up under the aegis of the forest department, was formally announced along with a tree plantation programme at Kairembikhok hill on Sunday.
Alumni members as well as officials of forest department participated in the event.
According to Alumni president Dr P Somorendro, the initiative was taken up as a contribution of the alumni body towards fighting the global concern of climate change.
Under the initiative, they have planted around 1000 tree saplings for the first phase.
They will take responsibility for ensuring proper growth of the tree saplings, he said while appreciating forest department officials for their cooperation.
