U-ID initiative begins in Thoubal

Thoubal, May 20 2025: In an effort to provide a Unique Identification (U-ID) number to all existing properties, including land and buildings under the jurisdiction of Thoubal Municipal Council, the Council launched registration of "Property Files" on Tuesday.

Addressing media persons at the Council's conference hall, here, on Tuesday, TMC chairperson Khangembam Bishorjit announced that the property profile registration for the councillors and staff of the Municipal Council has been initiated.

The registration process will be extended to all wards under the Council's jurisdiction.

He also appealed to ward members and the public to extend their full cooperation in this regard.

Bishorjit further stated that the implementation of the U-ID will simplify the governance of the Thoubal Municipal Council, while also facilitating better municipal planning and service delivery.

It will also streamline the collection of taxes, user charges and other fees.

He added that the process of implementing property tax in areas under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Council will soon be initiated.

Thoubal Municipal Council senior executive officer Moirangthem Samuel, who was also present during the press briefing, stated that the profiling of councillors, staff, and some members of the Council was carried out on a trial basis on Tuesday.
