National conference on Techno-Social Sciences begins at MU

A two-day national conference on the topic "Role of Techno Science and Social Science in Transforming Life and Society towards Achieving Sustainable Development Goals-2025" organised by Manipur University in collaboration with Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) and Pan India Manipur Scientist and Academician Association (PIMMSAA) commenced at the MU auditorium on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, conference convenor and MU School of Agricultural Science dean professor N Damayanti informed that the seminar was organised with the objective of imparting knowledge and nurturing the talents of Manipur through the contributions of scientists, engineers, and academicians working outside the state.
She added that the national conference provides a valuable platform for face-to-face interaction among students, which will serve as a source of motivation.
In this regard, the conference also functions as a sensitisation programme.
The function was attended by Manipur University vice chancellor professor N Lokendra, DM University vice chancellor professor W Chandbabu Singh, PIMMSAA president Ranjankumar Singh Khaidem, Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research, CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute Bhavnagar, Gujarat chief scientist and professor Dr Sobhindro Singh Puyam, Babina Group of Companies chairman & managing director Dr Th Dhabali Singh, Science and Technology secretary Kengoo Zuringla and MAS-TEC director Dr Kh Rakesh as presidium members.
As part of the function and in connection with the 2nd foundation day of PIMMSAA, different awards for the IDPs were also presented.
Heritage Convent School student Rakesh Laishram of Kangpokpi Bazar Ward No I who scored 88.63 percent in the class X board exam, Jawaharlal Novodaya Vidyalaya Chandel student Soibam Reema Chanu of Moreh Ward No 7 who scored 92.20 percent in the class XII CBSE exam and New Era Higher Secondary School Thoubal student Athokpam Binita Chanu of Serou Makha Leikai, Kakching who secured 84.60 percent in the class XII council exam were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each with certificate and memento.
An amount of Rs 500 were also provided to 39 IDPs as consolation prizes.
Additionally, winner of the Community Resilience Education Financial Support and women workers of Sustainable Livelihood Mission were also awarded on the occasion.
