Imphal, July 06 2025:
While stressing the need for unity among all the indigenous communities of Manipur, former chairman of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) RK Meghen has said that it is the responsibility of every indigenous people to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur and promote an egalitarian society.
RK Meghen joined a prayer ceremony of 15 different organisations before the Ibudhou Pakhangba Shanglen of Kangla Fort on Sunday wherein leaders of the organisations also took oath to shoulder responsibility for protection of Manipur.
Speaking to media persons after the ceremony organised under the banner of Peace Committee Kangleipak, RK Meghen called upon the indigenous communities of Manipur to rise above ethnic divisions and unite in the interest of safeguarding territorial integrity of Manipur.
All the indigenous communities co-existing for years should also shoulder the responsibility in developing an egalitarian society in Manipur, he said.
According to RK Meghen, many civil society groups and organisations in Manipur work at their own level and capabilities but it is very fortunate that 15 different organisations have come together and took oath in the sacred Kangla to work together in the interest of the people at the crucial juncture.
The prayer and oath-taking event at Kangla was a meaningful step towards bringing unity for all those working in the interest of the people of the land, Meghen opined and stressed the need for fostering unity among different organisations by setting aside differences.
Many community leaders, scholars, youth, activists and religious leaders attended the event aimed at promoting peace, harmony and solidarity among indigenous communities.
