He stressed that it is everyone's duty to care for the saplings and ensure they mature into trees.
He mentioned that last year, crores of saplings were planted across the country under the theme "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" (One Tree in the Name of Mother).
A similar campaign will continue this year, he informed, encouraging people to plant trees in honour of their most loved ones.
Dr Munal also stated that with over 45 lakh army personnel in India, if each of them planted trees at their place of posting, it would greatly help in addressing the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation.
He further shared that the Chandel Forest Department plans to distribute 2.27 lakh saplings, assuring that there will be no shortage of saplings for anyone who wants to plant.
He appealed to all citizens, including students, to take part in tree planting during the upcoming monsoon season and help make the state truly live up to its name, "Sana Leibak Manipur", a land of greenery without climate or environmental issues.
