BJP policies, activities censured at Longmai meet

The District Level Samvidhan Bachao Rashtriya Padayatra Rally, organised by Tamenglong District Congress Committee, was held on Thursday at Longmai Part-111 multipurpose hall, Noney district headquarters.
The programme was attended, amongst others, by party leaders, including Md Wahidur Rahman, general secretary (organisation), Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC); Md Zakir, chairman, Minority Department, MPCC; Adai Phaomei, president, Tamenglong District Congress Committee; John Pamei, general secretary, Tamenglong DCC; Z Kikhonbou, ex-MLA; Samuel Jendai Kamei, ex-minister; Humaliabou, former chairman, ADC, Tamenglong; Zino Kamei, former vice chairman, Tamenglong ADC; and Kachamthai Dangmei, president, Nungba Block Congress Committee.

Speaking at the event, Wahidur Rahman charged the BJP regime of undermining democratic ethos and constitutional provisions.
He also accused the BJP government of failing to safeguard the downtrodden and minority communities, emphasising that the BJP must be wiped out from the land to save and strengthfen the Constitution.
The general secretary lambasted the BJP government for extending President's Rule in Manipur, while disclosing that the Congress party is in favour of dissolving the state assembly and seeking fresh mandate rather than prolonging President's Rule.
In his address Tamei former MLA and PCC member Z Kikhonbou remarked that there is no justice, liberty, or equality under the BJP regime.
He alleged that the BJP has violated the Constitution and failed to fulfil the fundamental duties towards the people.
He pointed out that, for the past 10 years, elections for the ADC in hill areas and,panchayats in the valley have not been held, which demonstrates the current government's failure to perform its duties.
Former minister Samuel Jen-dai Kamei added that to save the Constitution, the BJP government must be dethroned in the upcoming elections.
