Workshop on indigenous technology held

Imphal, April 28 2023: Indian Institute of Information Technology (HIT), Manipur on Friday organised a one-day workshop on "Enabling indigenous modern technology development for commercialisation towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat" .

The programme held at the IIIT auditorium, Mantripukhri was sponsored by Department of Information & Technology (IT).

The inaugural event was attended by IBSD, Takyelpat director Prof Pulok Kumar Mukherjee as chief guest and presided over by the IIIT-Manipur director Prof Krishnan Baskar.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Pulok gave emphasis on bioresources available in the state and also mentioned about the fusion of bioresource with modern technology like AI, IoT, etc.

Delivering the presidential address, Prof Krishnan Baskar said that Manipur is a hot spot of bio-resources and that HIT Manipur can give thrust on technological development.

He also talked about the importance of adopting modern technology on medicinal plants mass production, citing that Manipur's pineapple is tastier than the one in Tamil Nadu, so we need to think about a technology to enhance the production.

Later in the technical session, HIT lecturer Dr Kishorjit Nongmeikapam talked about "Recent Advancements in AI and ML"; Prof K Sankaran of Anna University on "Translation Research and Indigenous Technology Development and Commercialisation - Overcoming the Challenges"; Prof S Muttan on "Limited Manufacturing to Unlimited Opportunities in Medical Devices Development Conforming to Regulations" and CubeTen Technologies managing director Haobam Joyremba on "Challenges and opportunities using IOT in Traditional Methods of Business and Market.

Dr Ramesh Mishra of HIT Manipur also deliberated on "Drone Technology and Applications.

The programme was attended by students and representatives from different institutes and universities.
