IIIT-M hosts lecture on Viksit Bharat Manipur 2047

Imphal, July 18 2025: The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Manipur, a premier institution of national importance, organised a special lecture and interactive session featuring Dr Suvrokamal Dutta, an internationally acclaimed expert in political economy and foreign policy.

The lecture, held on Friday at the institute's Mantripukhri campus, was titled "Viksit Bharat Manipur 2047: The Road Map Ahead" .

Dr Dutta spoke on the global influence of ancient Bharat's knowledge, the cultural unity of South Asia through epics like the Ramayana, and the enduring relevance of India's civilisational values.

He emphasised that Viksit Bharat means inclusive development-economic, financial, and cultural.

Addressing faculty, scholars and students, Dr Dutta traced India's economic evolution - from the colonial exploitation to its post-independence resurgence and its emergence as the world's fifth largest economy amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

He stressed the importance of embracing indigenous technology and cultural pride, and urged young Indians to embody the spirit of Va-sudhaiva Kutumbakam - the world is one family.

Highlighting the Vedas, and Puranas as early texts of equality and women empowerment, Dr Dutta underscored the role of cultural diversity in building a self-reliant and developed Bharat.

He concluded with a vision of India becoming the 2nd largest economy by 2040.The session was attended by HIT Manipur director Prof Krishnan Baskar, who encouraged students to take pride in their cultural heritage and to serve as ambassadors of India's rich traditions in the global arena.

Also present at the event was the institute's registrar Dr Nongmeikapam Kishorjit.
