SFs seize 3 kg WY tables, nab smuggler

Senapati, July 16 2025: Senapati police and D-78 CRPF recovered 3; 172 kg of WY tablets and arrested a drug smuggler during frisking and checking operation at T Khullen checkpoint on Tuesday.

A combined team of Special Operation Team of Senapati police station along with D-78 CRPF under the supervision of Senapati police station OC inspector Nehgoulien Kipgen stopped a Hyundai i20 car (MN-03-P-8268) coming from Imphal at T Khullen checkpoint around 1 pm.

On enquiry, the driver of the vehicle was identified as Makakmayum Firdosh Sharif (26), son of MK Abdul Helim of Yairipok Tulihal Awang Leikai, Tulihal, Imphal East district.

On checking the vehicle, suspected drug-like substance wrapped in black polythene bags were seen concealed under the bonnet of the vehicle.

In the presence of Kangpokpi SDC Lhunk-hopao Touthang, three black polythene bags taken out from the bonnet were found containing 50 small packets in each bag, which on opening had 29,974 WY tablets (amphetamine) in total weighing 3.172 kg, including the weight of the plastic packets.

Subsequently, the WY tablets as well as the car used for transporting the drugs were seized and the carrier was arrested.

A case has been registered under relevant sections at Senapati police station for further investigation.
