UG cadres arrested; arms, ammos seized

Imphal, May 16 2025: In a series of joint operations, police and central security forces arrested several cadres of different underground outfits and recovered arms, ammunition and other materials across various districts.

On Wednesday, two active members of the United People's Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) were arrested from Koirengei Bazar under Hein-gang police station in Imphal East district.

The arrested individuals were identified as Ahongshangbam Abinash Singh alias Chingthang (26) of Keirak Siphai Mamang Leikai, currently residing at Koirengei Bazar, and Chungkha'm Kiran Singh alias Lepshinba (19) of Khumbong Mayai Leikai, Imphal West, also residing at Koirengei Bazar.

Both were allegedly involved in extortion activities targeting the general public in Imphal area.

Two mobile phones were seized from their possession.

On Thursday, security forces apprehended one UG cadre from Khurai Chingangbam Leikai near DDK Imphal office under Porompat PS in Imphal East.

The captive has been identified as Ngasepam Johnson Singh alias Manao (32) of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai, under Lamphel PS, Imphal West.

One mobile handset was recovered from him.

On the same day, another cadre of SOREPA was rounded up from Khonghampat Awang Leikai near Koubru Laikon under Sekmai PS in Imphal West.

The arrested person has been identified as Shagolsem Leishemba Singh alias Pureiromba (22) of Andro Loupaochum, Imphal East.

One mobile handset and an Aadhaar card were seized from his possession.

In Thoubal district, police arrested an active member of KCP (PWG) from Khangabok Part II Maisnam Leikai under Thoubal PS.

The arrestee identified as Khundrakpam Brojen Singh (53) of the same locality was reportedly involved in extortion activities targeting schools and colleges in the valley area.

A mobile handset was recovered from him.

Two active cadres of Koireng-led UNLF were also arrested on Thursday from two separate locations under.

Porompat PS in Imphal East.

Loushigam Loveboy Singh alias Thoukanba (34) of Khundrakpam Makha Leikai, and Laishram Diamond Singh alias Athoiba (19) of Uripok Laishram Leirak, Imphal West, were arrested from Andro Parking and Khurai Konsam Leikai Tharoijam Leirak, respectively.

One .32 pistol with magazine, two 9 mm rounds, three mobile phones, and one wallet were seized from them.

On the same day, security forces apprehended a PREPAK-Pro cadre identified as Laishram Nanao Singh alias Achul alias Rogen (39) of Heirok Part-II, Thokchom Leikai under Heirok PS, Thoubal district, from Heirok Part-III Keithelmanbi Loukon near a brick field.

Items recovered from him included one .303 rifle, four modified single bore action rifles, 54 rounds of .303,14 rounds of 7.62 mm, two INSAS LMG magazines, one INSAS rifle magazine, four .303 rifle magazines, one No.36 HE hand grenade, one detonator, three fibre BP plates, several tactical gears, one four-wheeler and one mobile handset with a SIM card.

Earlier, on Wednesday, security forces recovered one 7.62 mm SLR rifle with magazine, one .303 rifle with magazine, one 9 mm carbine with magazine, two 9 mm pistols with magazines, 20 rounds of 5.56 mm, four rounds of 7.62 mm, and 11 rounds of 9 mm ammunition from Libong-Duthang Junction under Tengnoupal PS in Tengnoupal district.
