Ukhrul, May 15 2025: The Sihai village headman, KAS Luingam has expressed dismay against the Organising Committee of Shirui Lily Festival for not seeking permission from the Village Authority for utilising Sihai Phangrei as one of the venues for the upcoming Shirui Lily festival celebration-2025 .

Speaking to the media persons at a press conference held today at Viewland, Ukhrul, Luingam expressed strong discontentment against the organising committee headed by Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul Asish Das for failing to acknowledge the owner of the land.

He stated that a petition was also submitted to the DC Ukhrul requesting him to confine the celebration venue to the officially designated venues.

The petition also mentioned that Sihai village does not levy any monetary charge on visiting tourists to trek on the mountain Sihai Phangrei but some individuals/group have illegally collected from the visitors for trekking, which was a distasteful act and is provocative in nature.

The headman also stated some other instances of some people/village misuse of the nomenclature "Phangrei" which belongs to Sihai village and the same matter had been reported to the DC Ukhrul for necessary intervention.
