SHRI honoured at CAHOCON 2025

Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI), Imphal, has been conferred the 1st Runner's Up - East Zone under the iCOMPLY category for Infection Prevention and Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship at the CAHO Excellence Awards 2025.According to a press release issued by general manager Santosh Shekhar, the award was presented to SHRI during the 9th edition of CAHOCON held at Hotel Pullman Aerocity in New Delhi on April 13.The recognition follows a series of comprehensive iCOMPLY audits conducted by the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations (CAHO), where hospitals across India' were evaluated through a rigorous benchmarking process.
The hospital's Infection Control Committee, led by chairperson Dr Kh Sulochana, and Infection Control officers Dr Y Biswabati and Thangjam Sangita Devi, and supported by nurses Khaidem Beronika Devi and Chanamthabam Roshnibala Devi, have been at the forefront of this initiative.
The team's work includes continuous surveillance of healthcare-associated infections and implementation of stringent standards and transmission-based precautions, apart from promoting robust hand hygiene practices and effective biomedical waste management, and structured antimicrobial stewardship programmes and regular training for both clinical and non-clinical staff.
The release further informed that to mark World Hand Hygiene Day on May 5, the Infection Control Committee organised a quiz competition that brought together more than 44 teams from various departments including junior residents, DNB students, nurses, paramedical and support staff.
The event also saw the announcement of the Hand Hygiene Mission Team by Khaidem Beronika Devi which aims to further improve hand hygiene and compliance with infection control protocols throughout the hospital.
In addition to its in-house initiatives, the Committee conducted an awareness session on hand hygiene at St Anthony School, Sangakpham on March 3 .
Furthermore, in partnership with the Department of Community Medicine, Shija Academy of Health Sciences, a community awareness programme is being planned later this year, the release informed.
