AR pays tribute, opens help desk

Imphal, March 15 2024:
Assam Rifles of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), organised a wreath laying ceremony and paid homage to martyred rifleman Gamar Bahadur BK at Kangvai, Churachandpur district, on Friday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), Gamar Bahadur was part of a road opening party (ROP) in general area of Moreh when the party was ambushed by inimical elements on March 15, 2013 .
The rifleman along with other members of the ROP effectively retaliated the attack.
However, the brave soldier sustained multiple splinter injuries due to twin improvised explosive device blasts at the ambush site and later succumbed to his injuries, laying down his life in supreme sacrifice for the Nation.
The event was attended by all ranks of the battalion who paid tribute to the braveheart and remembered his outstanding service to the nation.
The battalion also prayed for the departed soul and observed two minutes of silence, release added.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles established a dedicated helpdesk at Chandel to aid applicants applying for the Common Entrance Exam (CEE) under the Agnipath Scheme on Friday.
The Agnipath Scheme aims to empower youth to serve the nation by joining the Indian Army.
Qualified Assam Rifles personnel are stationed at the helpdesk to address queries and offer support to aspiring candidates.
The helpdesk, operational until March 22, is providing comprehensive assistance on eligibility criteria, application procedures, and other relevant information.
So far, 27 defence aspirants have received guidance, said the PRO in another release.
