Thoubal, February 08 2024:
Protesting the ban imposed by Kuki organisations on sale of essential items including water to state forces deployed in Moreh town, Meetei Community Joint Co-Ordinating Committee Waithou to Haokha and Thoubal Khunou has started imposing indefinite counter blockade at Babu Bazar, Thoubal from Thursday.
The counter-blockade was preceded by the Committee recently announcing to prohibit transportation of commercial and consumer goods to Kuki settlement areas in case the ban on sale of essentials to the state forces is not withdrawn by Wednesday.
With the ban in Moreh enforced, the Committee went ahead with the counter blockade, preventing transportation of goods towards Moreh.
Speaking to media persons, Committee treasurer Khumanthem Inaocha Singh and Women Wing secretary Pebam Indirani denounced action of Kuki narco terrorists banning Moreh shopkeepers from selling anything to state police personnel.
As long as the ban is enforced, no goods meant for Moreh will be allowed to pass through the Imphal -Moreh road, they asserted while urging the government to mitigate inconveniences being faced by state forces in Moreh at the earliest.
