SIR exercise to roll out from today

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Manipur Arun Kumar Sinha, has announced that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll for Manipur will commence tomorrow, and the final electoral roll will be published on September 6.Addressing the media at Lamphelpat today, the CEO said that the SIR exercise aims to ensure the inclusion of all eligible voters in the electoral rolls and the deletion of ineligible entries.
He said that all preparations are completed to roll out the exercise and the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will undertake extensive house-to-house visits across the district starting tomorrow till June 28, 2026.He further said that the draft electoral roll will be published on July 5, adding that the period for filing claims and objections will be from July 5 to August 4, while the disposal of claims and objections will be completed by September 2, 2026.Arun Kumar further stated that 16 DEOs and 60 EROs have been trained for the exercise, and that political parties have been informed to appoint Booth Level Agents.
He explained that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will distribute partially filled duplicate enumeration forms to voters during house-to-house visits, and will later collect the duly filled forms.
He said that the form can be downloaded from voters.eci.gov.in or the ECINet mobile app.
The CEO informed that SIR-related records will be available at http://voters.eci.gov.in and http://ceomanipur.nic.in.
He added that electors must compulsorily submit the enumeration forms to the BLOs.
Responding to a query, the CEO said that a proposal regarding internally displaced persons (IDPs) has been sent to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
He noted that IDPs were able to cast their votes during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
