Imphal, May 28 2025:
The Youths of Eastern Zogam has vehemently condemned the alleged unprovoked and cowardly intrusion carried out on the morning of May 28, 2025 by the United Kuki National Army (UKNA), a non-SoO signatory and armed Kuki militant group operating under the command of Th German Haokip.
It is unacceptable and deeply concerning that German Haokip brazenly operates under a dual identity, serving as the commander-in-chief of the KNF (MC), a signatory of SoO agreement while also leading the UKNA, a militant outfit that is not a part of the SoO, said a press release issued by the Youths of Eastern Zogam.
The reported encirclement of Phaiba, the ZRA-designated SoO camp, along with the unlawful occupation of a local school and the open display of arms by UKNA militants in Thanlon village constitute direct violation of the 1998 peace accord between the Zomi and Kuki communities.
These are deliberate acts of aggression aimed at destabilizing peace, inciting conflict and instilling fear among innocent civilians within Zomi areas, it said.
The presence of Kuki militants in and around Thanlon village has paralysed daily life, instilled widespread fear and threatened the very fabric of peaceful coexistence.
This is not a mere security lapse, it is a deliberate and hostile invasion, driven by territorial greed and a gross disrespect for existing peace frameworks, the Youths of Eastern Zogam said.
It then urged both State and Central authorities to flush out and eliminate the invading militants.
Th German Haokip must be held fully accountable for his duplicitous role, it added.
