Gunfight ensues between ZUF, NSCN (IM) cadres

Imphal, August 27 2025: A gunfight reportedly erupted between NSCN (IM) and ZUF cadres in a jungle area approximately 1 km from Taodaijang (Bonruang) near Khoupum, Nungba Sub-Division in Noney, around 10 am and went on till about 11.30 am today.

It is reported that some NSCN (IM) cadres may have sustained injuries in the clash which lasted for about one and a half hour.

Our Noney correspondent said there were no reports of casualties.

According to key ZUF leaders, the clash erupted after NSCN (IM) cadres entered their area of dominance.

They claimed that NSCN (IM) cadres repeatedly entered their area of dominance, despite previous warnings.

There was no injury on the side of ZUF, they said.

Following the incident, security forces rushed to the area while the village residents quickly evacuated to safer locations.

Later, locals of Taodaijang took out a rally to protest the armed conflict between NSCN (IM) and ZUF, demanding an end to the hostility.

Eight cadres of different factions of NSCN recently joined the ZUF .
