Their bodies had been kept at the RIMS morgue since April 7 and 8, and remained unclaimed until this afternoon.
Post-mortem examinations were conducted at the RIMS morgue in the presence of a Magistrate on April 13, with full video documentation.
This morning, security measures were put in place by the police and authorities concerned to facilitate the handover of the bodies to the JAC and the respective families.
By noon, family members and JAC representatives gathered in large number at the RIMS morgue to claim the bodies.
When their bodies were brought for the last rites, hundreds of internally displaced people and local residents scattered flower petals along the road from Tronglaobi to Phougakchao Ikhai to pay their respects.
Upon reaching Torbung Lamthabung, rituals were performed, and the bodies were buried in the presence of over 1,000 people.
A group of village volunteers also offered a gun salute during the burial ceremony.
Later, candles were lit on the graves of the three, and prayers were offered for their souls to rest in peace.
Speaking to the media, one of the family members stated that the decision to claim the bodies was made-after certain demands placed before the Government had been met, as well as to address the hardships faced by the families of the three victims.
