Imphal, August 19 2025:
In a major step towards strengthening law & order and ensuring safety on the highway, the district police Senapati has successfully established a Remote Monitoring Unit (RMU) at the Police Control Room, SP Office Senapati this morning.
Sources said that the Remote Monitoring Unit is linked to 12 strategically installed CCTV cameras covering critical stretches of the Imphal-Dimapur Highway under Mao police station, Tadubi police station, Maram police station, and Senapati police station.
The RMU linked with the CCTVs will enable the district police to monitor and track movements of vehicles and people on the highway in real-time and detect suspicious activities, ensuring smoother traffic management, and swift response to emergencies.
The Remote Monitoring Unit is part of the Senapati district police's commitment to serve the public and adopt technology for smarter policing.
This initiative will help build a safer environment for all citizens and travellers, said a police official.
The RMU will enable and improve surveillance of the highway 24x7, enhance rapid police response during accidents and other emergencies, and help ensure public safety, said the officer.
