Imphal, February 19 2009: Asserting that some scoundrels within the Tangkhul community have been continuously targeting innocent civilians belonging to Meitei and other communities, the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) observed that it is more than late for the Tangkhul people to identify those scoundrels and award fitting punishment according to Tangkhul customary laws.

A statement issued by the RPF's chief of publicity department Gm Changjou condemned the brutal murder of SDO Kasom Khullen Dr Thingnam Kishan, driver Aribam Rajen and Mandal Yumnam Token as an act of terrorism.

The outfit will launch an investigation into the murder committed at Lukhrabi Thong near Taphou Kuki village in Senapati district on February 17 after the three officials were abducted from Ukhrul DC office complex on February 13, it said.

Those Tangkhul scoundrels conspiring and working to bring Tangkhul community and Meitei to a clash just to regain the lost sympathy of the people is a wild thought of terrorists, RPF noted.

Forewarning that many innocent people belonging to both Meitei and Tangkhul community and also people of other community having similar appearance may suffer big casualties and deaths in the event of a communal riot between the two communities, the outfit assertedthat Tangkhul, Meetei and other communities of Manipur should join hands to track down the senseless scoundrels and punish them accordingly.

Otherwise Tangkhul brethren may fall in a sea of misery all because of these scoundrels, the outfit said.

Calling upon the Tangkhul people to take greater initiative towards identifying the scoundrels working to create animosity among the two communities who have been living together with mutual love and peace since time immemorial, the outfit asserted those wicked people should be awarded befitting punishment in public.

It noted that the Tangkhul people should take up necessary measures to check those evil activities which have the potential to defile the image of whole Tangkhul community.

Asserting that the murder of the young SDO and his sub-ordinate staff should be among the many activities perpetrated under a high level conspiracy at New Delhi, the outfit alleged that the perpetrators were stooges of the RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) which has been scheming to keep the people of North East region under perpetual distrust and hatred amongst themselves so that they can continue with their divide and rule policy.

Rather than taking up necessary steps to check such heinous crimes, the State Government has been attempting to beguile people by announcing ex-gratia and Government jobs to next of kin of the victims, it observed.

While the people of Manipur are killing amongst themselves under the alleged conspiracy and instigation of the RAW, the State Government has been distributing ex-gratia to each family.

With such practices continuing for quite a long time, JACs have become a common existence in each and every Leikai and locality.

This is only increasing the number of young widows in the State., the outfit observed.

Asserting that the Tangkhul people ought to shoulder greater responsibility in ascertaining the facts and circumstances of the brutal murder of SDO Kishan, Driver A Rajen and Mondal Y Token.

This would go a long way in removing misunderstandings between the two communities and bringing the normal atmosphere of peaceful co-existence.

Appreciating the stands adopted by different Naga civil society organisations in connection with the murder, RPF appealed to these organisations to stick to their stance so as to build up sense of mutual cooperation among different communities of Manipur.

The outfit also condoled the sad and untimely demise of SDO Thingnam Kishan of Kangjabi Leirak Meinam Leikai, Driver Aribam Rajen alias Amuba of Uripok Khoisnam Leikai and Mandol Yumnam Token of Chingamathak Yumnam Leikai.

It also shared the pain and grief of the bereaved families.
