Six cops, others named for MMS

Imphal, August 14 2025: Six cops, two Correctional Services officers and at least two others from Manipur have been awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service (MMS) on Independence Day.

The six Manipur Police personnel who have awarded the MMS include Devendra Singh Hijam, Additional Superintendent of Police; Thangjapao Vaiphei, Deputy Superintendent of Police; Nilbir Singh Yangambam, Sub-Inspector; Dorendro Meetei Irengbam, Havildar; Seikhohao Khongsai, Constable; and Mangte Jacky Kom, Rifleman.

The two Correctional Services officers who have been awarded the MSM are Surendra Kumar Singh Ngangbam, Warder and Muhamad Hamijuddin, Head Warder.

They are among 1090 personnel of the Police, Fire, Home Guard and Civil Defence and Correctional Services who were awarded the Gallantry Medals and Services Medals on Independence Day.

Besides the 8 officers of the Manipur Police and Correctional Services, Th Binodkumar, Deputy Commandant, SSB and Heirangkhongjam Opendro Singh, Deputy Central Intelligence Officer, both hailing from Manipur have also been awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service (MMS) .
