Imphal, September 11 2026: United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor called on Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today at CM Secretariat, Mantripukhri.

During the meeting, Sergio Gor said that Manipur is a stunning place and is a beauty.

Gor said he was very happy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is focusing on development of North East India, which is good for a diverse country like India.

The Ambassador enquired about the number of tourists visiting Manipur.

He said that there is a special bond between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, beyond the normal PM-President relationship.

He said that President Trump personally cherished this relationship.

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh invited the US Ambassador to the upcoming Manipur Sangai Festival 2026.He said that India is a mini world and Manipur is a mini India and is home to 36 communities.

The Chief Minister highlighted tourism and other allied sectors as possible areas for development.

The Ambassador was accompanied by US Consul General in Kolkata Kathy Giles-Diaz.

Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur and other State officials were also present during the meeting, according to a press release issued by the CM Secretariat.
