No hand in demolition of Rajbari: Conrad

Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP National president Conrad K Sangma has clarified that the Government of Meghalaya has no hand in the demolition of Manipuri Rajbari located at Shillong.
Speaking to media persons at Hotel Classic Grande, Conrad Sangma stated that Manipuri Rajbari, Shillong was demolished by an order issued by the Government of Manipur.
Demolition of such historical monuments/buildings is a matter of grave concern.
It is wrong to demolish such historical buildings, the Meghalaya Chief Minister said.
"On learning about the demolition of Manipuri Rajbari, Shillong, I immediately called officials concerned at Shillong and enquired about the demolition.
The officials replied that the Government of Meghalaya has no hand in the demolition", Conrad Sangma said.
Demolition of such an important historical site which has a prominent place in the history of Manipur is a matter of grave concern, he said.
The Meghalaya Chief Minister stated that he was shocked on learning about the demolition of Manipuri Rajbari.
He added that the Manipuri Rajbari, Shillong was demolished by an order of the Govt of Manipur.
