Dissolve House, hold fresh polls: Cong

Imphal, July 10 2025:
Pointing out that BJP and its allies are unable to form a popular Government and President's Rule has failed to bring any development, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has asserted that holding fresh elections after dissolving the existing State Assembly will be a much better option.
The matter of forming a popular Government in Manipur must be decided by the BJP .
However, neither the Central Government nor the State Government is sharing what they are doing in connection with the Manipur crisis, said Meghachandra.

When there was a popular Government in the State, the same Government could not bring an end to the Manipur crisis for over two years.
Now President's Rule is almost five months old but not a single work of development can be seen so far, he remarked.
Today the people of Manipur do not trust the BJP nor do they expect anything from the BJP, he said.
The BJP Government was unable to bring an end to the protracted crisis and the BJP MLAs are unable to form a popular Government.
On the other hand, the President's Rule has failed to bring any kind of development in the State.
Given this reality, it will far better to dissolve the existing State Assembly and hold fresh elections, Meghachandra said.
A team of the MPCC today went to the Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla.
Briefing media persons at the Raj Bhavan gate after submitting the memorandum, MPCC president K Meghachandra said that they submitted a memorandum to the Governor with a detailed report on the existing condition of relief camps and the incomplete prefabricated houses built for IDPs as observed during a field survey carried out by MPCC .
A team of MPCC inspected the prefabricated houses constructed at Phubala and Saiton in Bishnupur district yesterday along with officials of the district administration and Manipur Police Housing Corporation.
But the conditions of the prefabricated houses were disappointing and miserable.
The prefabricated houses were built without work orders after skipping the due tender process.
The prefabricated houses were constructed not in an official manner and their quality were found to be dangerously compromised, Meghachandra said.
Construction of the prefabricated houses was started by some people without work order but the same work was left incomplete soon after the President's Rule was imposed in the State.
Although the construction of the prefabricated houses has been halted for the past five years, the Government has not taken up any step to complete the incomplete houses, he said.
Had the prefabricated houses been completed without undue delay, many IDPs who are still languishing in relief camps in wretched conditions could have shifted to these houses, he said.
Without work orders, it is not yet clear who would complete the incomplete prefabricated houses, Meghachandra said.
He urged the Governor to look into the matter of constructing prefabricated houses without tender and work order only to leave them incomplete.
Asking as to why the funds sanctioned for relief camps were utilised without accountability, the MPCC president claimed that there are indications of misuse of the funds sanctioned for construction of prefabricated houses.
Recalling the Chief Secretary's announcement that the IDPs would be resettled at their homes or prefabricated houses by December 2025, Meghachandra urged the Government to come out with a roadmap with a concrete timeline for resettlement of IDPs.
"Through the memorandum, we appealed to the Governor to see that the financial aid and other relief materials given to IDPs staying in relief camps are delivered to the bank accounts of the IDPs or directly in person", he said.
