Imphal, November 04 2025: Demanding amalgamation of several villages falling under Kangpokpi to Noney district, the Inter-District Boundaries Re-Organisation Demand Committee for Administrative Convenience (IDBRDCAC) has submitted a memorandum to Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar during his visit to Noney today.

The Minister of State for Home Affairs was in Noney district headquarters, and during his visit, he inspected the progress of various schemes and interacted with officials of the district administration and line departments.

In the memorandum, the committee submitted, it said the demand for amalgamation of villages belonging to Aimol, Chiru, Inpui, Kharam and Rongmei people whose villages presently fall under the Sadar Hills (Kangpokpi) into Noney district (erstwhile Tamenglong district) started way back in the early part of 1980s .

It said several memoranda have been submitted to the Prime Minister's Office and Union Home Minister since then.

While the Central Government as well as the State Government in response had assured to positively look into the genuine demand raised by the people for amalgamation of the villages back into the parent district of Noney, no concrete steps have been taken so far, it said.

The Manipur State Government on multiple occasions had formed District Boundaries Re-Organisation Committees in order to carry out the inter district boundaries reorganisation, it mentioned.

While various committees were formed in 2011, 2013 and 2018, the State Government has so far failed miserably to materialise the genuine demand of the tribes, it said, seeking the attention and intervention of the Minister of State for Home Affairs.

Meanwhile, at Noney, Bandi Sanjay Kumar was received by Deputy Commissioner Sharath Chandra Arroju, SP Namsadai Peter Kamei and other Government officials at a helipad set up at Longmai Common ground.

After reaching, the MoS inspected various stalls opened by different line departments.

At the DC's conference hall, he interacted with the DC, SP and district level officers and reviewed the progress of various developmental schemes and programmes.

During the review meeting, officers of the lines department shared grievances and challenges they face in implementing projects.

The MoS also interacted with public leaders, members of self help groups (SHGs).

He took part in a tree plantation programme and visited the world's highest railway pier bridge at Noney.
