Imphal, August 02 2025: The Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has made a startling claim, alleging that the Heirok Higher Secondary School is being overseen by a former Principal-in-charge despite the presence of a regular Principal.

The student body expressed concerns that this unusual situation has raised questions about the school's management and administration and urged the relevant authorities, including the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), to investigate the matter.

Speaking to the media at Kwakeithel today, DESAM secretary general N Thoithoiba alleged that former Principal Th Nimai is exercising authority at Heirok Higher Secondary School, including issuing an admission notification on May 11, 2025, signed as Principal, despite a regular Principal being in place since November 2024 .

Thoithoiba demanded that the authority takes appropriate action against the school's regular Principal, Sh Jayenta, for allegedly allowing someone else to work in his place.

He further alleged that the former Principal in-charge collected money from students for identity cards, neck ties, and other items, despite the Government's assurance of free and compulsory education for certain classes in Government schools.

Further stating that the former Principal-in-charge was also found working as the Chairman of the School Management Committee, the DESAM secretary general demanded that the Education (S) and the concerned ZEO clarify the issue at the earliest.
