Two injured in blast

Imphal/Ukhrul, July 08 2014:
Two persons were injured as suspected RPF/PLA cadres targeted a patrol party of 88 Assam Rifles with a high intensity IED at Bundung village under Kasom Block in Ukhrul district at around 9.30 am today.
It is said that the injured persons were working near the community hall when the blast was triggered.
The bomb went off moments after the Assam Rifles patrol party passed the site.
The injured persons have been identified as Laishram Kiran (45) s/o Ningthem-pishak of Yairipok Bishnu- naha and Keneth (38) s/o Ngathingkhui of Kangkum village.
Keneth was rushed to JNIMS Hospital in Imphal and Kiran to RIMS Hospital.
Kiran's condition is stated to be critical.
He worked in a saw mill in the village.
Bundung village is located about 140 km away from Ukhrul district headquarters.
It is said that many UG groups take the village as a safe area to take shelter as it is located along Indo-Myanmar border.
Meanwhile, the Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang and Kashung Village Authority have in separate press releases condemned the bomb blast occurred on Tuesday at Kashung Bungdung village near the Burma Border under Kasom Khullen Sub Division in Ukhrul district and demanded to make clarification from the concerned party.
In the mean time, the Naga People's Front has also condemned the bomb blast and further opined that such dastardly act committed at public places is usually perpetrated by fools and cowards.
The NPF further called upon those cowards to come out openly as to why such beastly acts have been committed on civilians and the government of Manipur is requested to investigate this incidents at the earliest, it said.
