Kakching, May 27 2025: Protesting against the May 20'Gwaltabi incident wherein army personnel asked a media team to conceal 'Manipur' on the windshield of a Manipur State Transport bus, Yelhoumee Kanba Lup units of Wabagai, Hiyanglam, Keirak and Khoidum on Tuesday organised a rally from Hiyanglam-Wabagai Lamkhai Bazar till the Kakching DC's office.

During the rally, the participants chanted slogans such as 'Governor, chief secretary, security advisor & DGP should resign immediately', 'No disintegration of Manipur', 'We will govern ourselves', 'Governing authorities should come out in public', 'Long Live Manipur', etc .

Kakching police prevented the rally from advancing to the DC office by blocking them near Keirak Sheng mai Barrage.

After a brief scuffle between the agitators and police, some of the protesters were allowed to meet Kakching deputy commissioner Rohit Anand, to air their grievances and submit a memorandum.

Speaking to media persons, one of the protestors condemned the biased attitude of the Governor, chief secretary and DGP and asserted that if they cannot ensure fair administration then they should resign from their post.

Meanwhile, as part of protest call against the Gwaltabi incident, COCOMI Kakching Khunou Unit and All Kakching Khunou Meira Paibi Welfare Association under the aegis of COCOMI Wangoo Branch formed human chain protest at Kakching Khunou Keithel on Tuesday.
