Imphal, July 25 2025:
The State Disciplinary Action Committee of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Manipur Pradesh, has issued a show cause notice to its spokesperson M Sureshkumar Singh for making what it described as "unfounded allegations" against party MLAs during a televised discussion, which he also attended without obtaining prior permission from the party.
According to the notice, the statement made by Sureshkumar during the New TV Dialogue aired on July 17 has attracted "unwanted public attention" and caused "serious displeasure within the party", particularly among the MLAs concerned.
The committee noted that such remarks, made without authorisation, are in clear violation of party rules and constitutional provisions.
The notice stated that Suresh -kumar's participation in the programme without obtaining prior permission from the party office also constitutes misconduct and indiscipline, making him liable for disciplinary action under the party constitution.
In a meeting held on July 22, the committee resolved to serve the show cause notice, directing Sureshkumar to submit a written explanation within seven days of receipt.
The notice cautioned that failure to respond within the stipulated period would be "construed as acceptance of guilt", and that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken without further notice.
The committee has advised the spokesperson to treat the matter with the utmost seriousness.
