Makaam Hospital & Research Institute celebrates foundation day

Noney, May 24 2025: The Makaam Hospital & Research Institute celebrated its foundation day on Friday with a programme held at its conference hall in Longmai Bazar, Noney district.

The event was organised under the theme "Care with Compassion".

Dignitaries present at the ceremony included Nungba MLA Dinganglung Gangmei, who is also the chairman of the Hill Areas Committee (HAC), who served as chief guest; SP Noney, Namsadai Pamei as guest of honour; and RBCC Mission Board chairman reverend Sangailung Gangmei, who delivered the spiritual address.

In his speech, chief guest Dinganglung Gangmei acknowledged the various developmental initiatives planned for Noney district, particularly road and bridge infrastructure projects.

He noted, however, that implementation has been delayed due to the imposition of President's Rule.

He assured attendees that preparations are underway for the construction of a vital road connecting Makaam to the district headquarters.

He emphasised that healthcare, quality infrastructure, and education are fundamental pillars of social and economic progress.

He commended Makaam Hospital & Research Institute chairman Gonmei Kaphunjok Henry, and his management team for establishing a private healthcare facility equipped with an operation theatre, ultrasound, X-ray, and laboratory services, especially in the absence of a fully functional government hospital in the district.

He further pledged to provide an ambulance van equipped with life-saving equipment, responding to a request submitted by the hospital administration.

The HAC chairman also encouraged residents to apply for health cards and to take advantage of various government welfare schemes.

In his address, reverend Sangailung Gangmei exhorted the hospital staff, particularly nurses, drawing inspiration from biblical teachings.

He likened the act of caring for patients with dedication to serving God.

During the event, the hospital's management board honoured outstanding staff members for their exceptional service in the year 2024-2025.KP Lucy was recognised as Best Nurse, while the Best Pharmacist award went to Gaimoiliu Gonmei.

Lumthuiyang Ruangmei received the Best OT Technician award, and Lankhamliu Kamei was named Best Laboratory Technician.

The Best Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) award was presented to Gaichamdin Dangmei, with Jianchui Kamei receiving the Best Security Personnel award, and Pouchunliu Dangmei honoured for Best Housekeeping Staff.

These awards were presented by the chief guest and the chairman of the hospital.

Other attendees included JNIMS assistant professor Dr Ramthai Kamei; SDO Longmai (Noney) HL Christian Horde; Noney police station OC Dominique; former president of United Naga Council Kenan Kamei; VCLA chairman Adai Dangmei; Longmai Village Authority chairman Kasaigai Gangmei; alongside local residents, community leaders, and religious representatives.
