5 killed in suspected fratricidal firing

In a suspected case of fratricide, five persons believed to be cadres of the armed Chin-Kuki-Mizo Army (CKMA) were killed late Monday night in a remote village in Noney district.
CKMA is a non-SoO group formed after the conflict in Manipur.
The incident happened at Deivaijang Kuki village under Nungba police station under Noney district.
Deivaijang Kuki village is about 40km from Nungba and the road leading the remote village from Nungba is said to be treacherous.
However, a team of Nungba police station led by the OC has proceeded to the, village for investigation on Tuesday.
No further details are available at the time of filing this report.
However, local sources informed that the firing incident occurred late Monday night at a camp of CKMA located at Deivaijang Kuki village, where the outfit runs a training camp.
There were altogether nine cadres at the time of the incident while some cadres on leave.
Among the nine cadres, four are said to be between 15-16 years and undergoing arms training at the camp.
All the five deceased cadres were said to be instructors of the training camp, the sources said, not ruling out the possible of the four trainees opening fire on the five instructors while they were deep slumber.
