UG trio arrested; three held with ammos

Imphal, July 21 2025: Security forces have arrested three cadres of two proscribed organisations from various parts of the state during search operations.

According to Manipur Police Control Room, police arrested two cadres of UPPK identified as Nongmaithem Subhachandra Singh alias Kakching Ngakpa (44) of Kakching Super Market, and Elangbam Abinash Singh alias Ngamba (22) of Hiyanglam Mayai Leikai, from Kakching Super Market area on Sunday.

Two mobile phones have been recovered from the duo, accused of involvement in ex: tortion activities in Kakching areas.

Meanwhile, a combined team a self-styled sergeant major of PREPAK named Konjengbam Tomba Singh alias Laingam (38) from his Kontha Ahallup Makha Leikai residence on July 19 .

The arrestee has reportedly completed basic military training in Myanmar in October 2024 .

On the other-hand, security forces apprehended three persons from Khoyathong Po-lem Leikai, Thangmeiband, along with recovering cache of ammunition from their possession on Sunday.

A Manipur Police Control Room release identified the captives as Konsam Uttam Singh alias Abungo (18) and Thingujam Devid Singh alias Tony (28) of Thangmeiband Lourung.

Purel Leikai, and Ngangom Rohit Singh alias Thoi (23) of Polem Leikai.

The recoveries include 70 round of JNSAS, an AK magazine with 26 rounds, two INSAS LMG magazines, one INSAS rifle magazine, a 7.62mm SLR magazine, 67 rounds of .303 calibre, 100 rounds of .38mm calibre and three rounds of 7.62mm SLR .
